luca and SuitePad follow two different models. SuitePad is a tablet in the hotel room that replaces the printed guest directory, the room phone, and the TV remote. luca runs on the guest's own smartphone and covers the whole journey from arrival to checkout. This page compares both factually so you can decide which approach fits your property.
Two models: full journey on a smartphone versus a tablet in the room
The core of the difference is the point of access. SuitePad is a device in the room. It reaches guests once they are in the room and replaces the guest directory, phone, and TV control there. luca runs on the guest's own smartphone. Access is by QR code or link, with no app download.
The reach difference follows from that. luca reaches guests before arrival, at check-in, in the restaurant, and on the go. Up to 69% of guests use pre-check-in before arrival. SuitePad works in the room and is strong there. It is not designed for arrival, mobile contact, or touchpoints outside the room (as of July 2026).
Full guest journey versus the in-room stay
luca covers the guest journey from arrival to checkout. That includes online check-in, digital keys, the self-service kiosk as a digital front desk, and checkout by smartphone. The Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Berlin, with more than 550 rooms, uses the full stack: check-in in seconds on a smartphone or lobby terminal, integrated payment, mobile ordering, and a 24/7 self-service shop in the lobby.
SuitePad is built for the in-room stay. It replaces the printed guest directory, the room phone, and the remote control. A check-in, keys, or kiosk module is not publicly documented as part of the offering (as of July 2026).
Payments and restaurant POS on one platform
luca includes native payments and a restaurant point of sale. luca Pay runs on Adyen, with a card fee under 1% and no subscription. Ordering, payment, and restaurant reservations run in the same system as hotel check-in.
SuitePad offers visual ordering menus for room service and F&B, and bookings post to the PMS folio. A dedicated payments product and a restaurant POS are not publicly part of the offering (as of July 2026). For a property with its own restaurant, luca covers hotel and F&B on one platform.
No per-room hardware
luca needs no device in every room. Guests use their own smartphone. That removes device management, breakage, theft, and end-of-life replacement. SuitePad deliberately relies on a fixed device in the room, which enables interaction with no download and no login.
On price: SuitePad works with a performance model. By its own account, there are no hardware fees and no setup costs, and the hotel pays a share of the revenue or savings the device generates. The exact revenue share is not publicly documented (as of July 2026). With luca, card terminals start from €19/month, and module pricing comes through a demo.
When SuitePad is the better fit
SuitePad is strong in its category and has been recognized repeatedly. There are cases where it fits better than luca.
- Fixed touchpoint in the room. If you want a premium physical touchpoint in the room that every guest uses without their own device, the tablet model is a clear advantage.
- One-to-one replacement for the printed guest directory. If your main goal is to digitize the in-room directory, SuitePad covers exactly that.
- Replacing the room phone. SuitePad's phone function replaces the classic room phone, a use case luca does not cover.
